(Puttu Recipe) How to Make Soft Puttu

Ingredients

1. Rice flour - 1 Cup

2. Steamed rice - 5 tbs

3. Greated coconut - 11 tbs

4. Salt - to taste

5. Coconut oil - 1 tsp

6.Water

Method

1. Take a large mixer jar, add rice flour, steamed rice and salt. Grind it well.

2. Take a large bowl, then pour the powder mixture.

3. Sprinkle some water over that (the amount of water required will depend on the quality of rice flour. So, add accordingly)

4. Begin to mix the flour with the water with your fingertips, add 5 tbs grated coconut and mix very well. The flour mixture should be wet but not lumpy.

5. Take the puttu kudam with enough water and let it get heated. 

6. Take the cylindrical tube of the puttu maker ( puttu kutty ), 1 tsp oil brush inside the puttu kutty.

7. Add 2 tbs fresh grated coconut and then gently add the prepared putt flour till half.

8. Again add 2 tbs grated coconut and add the prepared puttu flour. Finally add 2 tbs grated coconut.

9. Close the puttu kutty and place on top of the puttu kudam. 

10.  Steam for around 6 minutes or till the steam escape from top hole of puttu kutty.

11. Then carefully take the puttu kutty from the puttu kudam.

12. Then open it and gently push the puttu using a stick from the back.

Enjoy your hot and soft puttu with kadala curry or your favourite curry!
